Bedtime Stories – A Fairy-Tale Painting Series

Currently, I am working on the series “Bedtime Stories”, which tells a story from the perspective of a little flower and its friends — fairy-tale characters whose peaceful, magical world suddenly faces unexpected and unsettling events. These changes pull them out of their familiar reality, forcing them to confront a darker and unfamiliar context, far removed from their once safe fairy-tale environment. The series includes both oil and acrylic paintings, offering a variety of expressive forms and emotional contrasts.

Inspiration Behind the Series

The inspiration for “Bedtime Stories” came after my return to mainland Europe following two years in Hawaii. There, I experienced a new cultural reality, shaped by a different media landscape and flow of information. This series reflects my own attempt to understand and respond to global unrest, terror, wars, and violence. I keep asking myself: how can such horror exist in a world so full of beauty, harmony, and advanced technology? Why does this constant sense of danger feel so present?

Technique, Mediums & Visual Language

In addition to acrylic works, I also return to the oil medium in this series to achieve a more vivid, tactile, and sensual texture in the paintings. Moreover, many compositions include references to comics, cartoons, and elements of pop culture, blending different visual languages into a single narrative. The “Bedtime Stories” series remains ongoing, and I continue to create and develop it further.
