Currently, I am working on the series “Bedtime Stories,” which tells a story from the perspective of a little flower and its friends—fairy-tale characters whose peaceful, magical world finds itself on the brink of incomprehensible and unsettling events. These events pull them out of their familiar reality, forcing them to face a darker, unfamiliar context, far from their former fairy-tale world. The series includes both oil and acrylic paintings, allowing for a variety of expressive forms and emotions.
The inspiration for this series came from my return to mainland Europe after spending two years in Hawaii. There, I encountered a new reality, accompanied by a different media landscape and information flow. This series reflects my own attempt to make sense of and respond to the global unrest, terror, wars, and violence. I ask myself: how can such horror exist in a world so full of beauty, harmony, and advanced technology? Why do I feel this overwhelming sense of danger looming over me?
In addition to acrylic works, I also return to the oil medium in this series to achieve a more „alive” and sensual texture in the images. There are many references to comics, cartoons, and pop culture throughout. The series is still ongoing, and I continue to create and develop it further.
